Summer glow

It seems that I can barely keep up with our current adventures... reminiscing takes much more time & concentration than I can manage.
With summer almost over we are loving our beach days more & more. The warmth in the sand & the water is precious as soon it will begin to cool. Today we had a trip to dromana to stock up on fleece & incense. We spent the afternoon under the shade of the pier & got a lot wetter than I had anticipated.

It's amazing watching little M in the wider world. Today he made friends with a little boy (3yo?), Marcus. They swap shells & stones. Little M holds his ground when Marcus takes a stone from him. He demands it back without words or assistance. Marcus knows he's serious.

Chillin'

To baby char ~ thanks for your delightful company, laughter & green cordial yesterday. Memories of the 3 of us grooving with the Waifs on an island in the sun will be forever cherished. x

Strawberry fields forever...

Last weekend  P, little M & I all went on a little adventure.
Down a long windy dirt track, through forests with trees as tall as star trails, over a rickety rickety wooden bridge & into fields of strawberries! Divine. We collected a whole kilo of them ~ sweet, juicy, delicious goodness. Milo was not the least bit impressed that he couldn't eat them right away (pesticide spray :(, they had to be washed first). When he had had enough he lay down in the middle of a row & rested his head on a berry bush for a snooze.

The next day we made a big batch of strawberry muffins... sweeties not often found 'round here. Little M couldn't believe his luck....

Until mama said 'no more muffins'..

Waking up.....

My baby is 2 days off 20 months old!
I seem to have small pockets of time now where I am baby free & my thoughts are drifting back to opportunities for self expression. At the forefront of my mind is unfinished, actually unstarted, pieces of art & joy that even with the very best of intentions have never found a way out of my mind. The first of these is a record of my boys life & of our family's most precious moments. I have, at times, been great at jotting down dates ~ stories ~ moments & at photographing them too. At other times, I've been less so. So this 'blog' is in fact to be a life journal, compiled in memory not time, at least until now. So an exciting journey ahead ~ finding, reading, remembering & matching as I piece together the last 20 months & beyond.......

to be sure it's a tree

12th February, 2008

Santa brought crayons for little M. Gorgeous beeswax block crayons. They are smooth & smell amazing & are just the right size for little hands.

he told me this is a star

Mama ~ ' Miles would you like to draw a tree.'
Miles ~ Nods enthusiastically then draws the picture above.
He sniffs it to be sure it's a tree.
Deeelightful :)

laughter & sweetness

23rd January, 2008

this photo was taken on October 28, 2005
2 years, 3 months ago
That big machine is designed to rip up compacted soils. It helped, but really most of the work was done by my sweet P. Then he dug 5 holes about 1/2 of my height deep for the fruit trees to be planted in.
They were all about 1 metre tall.

Now we pick juicy, sweet nectarines & savour the goodness.

We sit in the shade of the apple tree & share
laughter & sweetness with friends.

I feel so proud & satisfied.

21 years & counting

January 18th, 2008

Baby Char turns 21!

So it's finally happened ~ we are all officially 'grown up'.
Charlene looked stunning, delivered an impeccable speech, managed to dance with her date (little M) & many others & still remained standing in the wee sunny hours of the morning (or so I'm told).
Unbelievably I have no pics as although I remembered my camera ~ under the strictest of instructions to do so, I had forgotten to charge the battery. Sorry Char Char.
Char baby, you are amazing. You are growing into a more incredable person every day. I wish you the greatest adventure for your travels ahead. I know that your journeys will bring you just the right amount of challenge, laughter, tears, success & ultimatly personal fullfillment & growth. I can wait as long as need be for you to return & share them with us. Happy Birthday baby girl. x

we ow we ow

9th January, 2008

My beautiful little boy is what I want to write about, he's why I'm inspired to write. He is utterly delightful. A week off 19 months & so very cool.

Today he got on a surfboard for the first time & loved it. He's talking - 'da's ki' (dad's bike) & helping, he'll wash his highchair while I wash the benches, put his washing in the basket, fetch his bottle from the bedroom & bring it to the dishwasher. He wants to feed himself at every meal now ~ but not his snacks. I have to feed them to him!

He loves the sand pit, his 'we ow we ow' fire truck, avocado, icy fruit poles & his mama.
Today when he woke from nap I went to cuddle him in bed for a while until he was ready to get up. I kept asking 'should we get up now?, should we have lunch?' he'd shake his head 'no no no' & snuggle in for more cuddles. Then we were both hysterical playing a new game ~ he'd touch my lip & I'd sneeze. We were both in fits of laughter & cuddles.

He says 'more' clear as day, makes fish sounds & dog sounds. He likes elephants & books about children. He loves lucy & 'jo jo'.

He adores his papa. He spends most of the day wearing Paulies work gloves, hat & shoes. Sometimes he likes to wear Paulies t-shirt too. He likes to listen to him on the phone. He waves & kisses the phone. When Paulies not really there he says 'hi dad' & 'see a ater'.

Every week is better than the last.
